Meet Brent J. Morris, MD


Brent J. Morris, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained shoulder and elbow surgeon offering expert care for patients at his practice in
Houston.

Dr. Morris is a shoulder and elbow expert who remains committed to research designed to improve patient care. He’s a leading researcher and has presented the results of his research both nationally and internationally. Dr. Morris has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications, invited articles, and book chapters. He has published a textbook on shoulder surgery (Shoulder Arthroplasty 2 nd Edition). Dr.Morris and his research team have published articles in several leading orthopedic journals including The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, The American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery: Arthroscopy, and Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma among others.

Dr. Morris greatly values education and serves as the Fellowship Director for the TERFSES Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship. Dr. Morris is one of a select group of shoulder and elbow surgeons inducted into the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). Dr. Morris is an Active Member of ASES. Dr. Morris is also an AAOS Candidate Member and member of the AOA Emerging Leaders Program.

Dr. Morris received his undergraduate degree from the University of the Cumberlands (formerly Cumberland College) where he graduated summa cum laude and was a 4-year member of the golf team. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. While at the University of Kentucky, Dr.Morris was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Gold Humanism Honor Society, and received the R. Von Myers II Award. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt University. During his
residency at Vanderbilt, he was very active in research and was awarded the Dr.Kathryn Cramer Outstanding Resident Research Award. He completed a Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at Texas Orthopedic Hospital in affiliation with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Morris is licensed to practice medicine in Texas, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
